Sir, - I congratulate Andy Pollack (An Irishman's Diary, August 16th). It is not often these days that we hear positive things said about the Church, and in particular, ministers and priests. Mr Pollack, unlike many people in his business, appears unafraid to say what he feels rather than slipping down the slope into cliched clergy/ church-bashing.
Mr Pollack says that his thoughts were provoked by reading When the Acacia Bird Sings, a book by Jim O'Halloran, a Salesian priest. It gives us a lot to think about and is well worth a read. - Yours, etc., Gerard M. Bailey,
