Madam, - I refer to Kitty Holland's report of December 30th on the apparently imminent deportation of Ms Olga Boldyreda, Mr Alex Sidorov and their seven-year-old son George, to Russia. George was born and raised here.
It seems to me if this State "allows" someone to become de facto Irish, then this State has an obligation to that person.
If it has an obligation to young George it should have an obligation to his parents also.
I would compare this case, in principle, to a case of something being built without planning permission and the local council taking no action. Eventually the building becomes legal by default.
