Madam, - I read with dismay the article by Frank McDonald ( The Irish Times, March 29th) concerning the draft local area plan for Ballsbridge. The reference to the ambitious plans of the developer Seán Dunne for a high-rise scheme to replace Jurys and the Berkeley Court caused me to put pen to paper.
Is it seriously being suggested that higher-density development, including large-scale shopping, should be built in Ballsbridge - the same Ballsbridge that none of us can get through when we have to travel to Dublin? The Ballsbridge that delays even airport traffic when any event is being held at the RDS? The Ballsbridge that is now going to have a 50,000-seater stadium to add further to the congestion?
Surely the Dublin city planners are not going along with Mr Dunne's money-making schemes. - Yours, etc,
FRANK DILLON, Monaleen Road, Castletroy, Limerick.
