Sir, - I may well have missed their letters, but it seems incredible that no-one has written to complain about the appalling state of Telecom Eireann and its enquiry numbers.
One is held in a queue for enquiring on either one's own exchange number, the enquiry number for Irish numbers, or even the enquiry number for various addresses, including England. Sometimes one has to wait up to 10 minutes to get through. I only pray one is not charged for this waiting.
Having travelled in most countries in the world, I have never before experienced this total inconvenience. Can nothing be done about it? I am certain other readers will agree with my complaint. - Yours, etc., Dr Derek Hill, CBE,
Donegal.
