AIDAN REGAN,
Sir, - I refer to the report (Home News, April 3rd) on the Southern Health Board's encouragement to those with physical and sensory disabilities to have their details included in a new national database. This is a generous gesture by our ever-so-modern and reliable health service (note the sarcasm in my diction).
However, the report really illustrated the ignorance of the health board. While providing a low-call telephone number to encourage people to register for the database, it fails to recognise the unfortunate inability of a hearing-impaired person to use the phone. The provision of a fax number is not too much to ask of our health boards - or is it? - Yours, etc.,
AIDAN REGAN,
