Madam, - Bord na Móna's company secretary Gerry Ryan, on behalf of his managing director, Gabriel D'Arcy, replies (June 17th) to my recent letter on their use of the British terms "peat" and "peatlands" in place of the Irish terms "turf" and "bogs".

In doing so he persists in British usage. I had hoped my letter might have encouraged them to call a sleán a sleán.

Perhaps they could adopt as their company song that great favourite of yesteryear, "The Old Peatland Road". - Yours, etc,
