STEPHEN BURNS,
Madam, - The insistence by the Government that airlines advertising their prices must show all taxes is to be welcomed. Is it not past time that the hotel and restaurant sector were enjoined to do the same?
I felt that it is long overdue that the euphemism "service charge" be dispensed with. Is there any reason why a restaurant asks for an extra payment for service and a department store or ordinary shop does not? The concept of service charge is an anachronistic practice that has been left relatively unchallenged. It is time to end it! - Yours, etc.,
STEPHEN BURNS, Oriel Terrace, Dundalk.
