Madam, – On the issue of reimbursement of expenses due to the unforeseen volcano, I do agree with Michael O’Leary of Ryanair on the onerous nature of EU legislation. How can passengers who paid only €10 expect to get more than that in expenses?
They must, indeed, adopt a Ryanair strategy. While the fare may only have been €10, they should claim “extra fees” per day, such as €20 for baggage, €40 for waiting at the airport, €20 transaction fees, €10 security fee, €10 administration fee, etc.
What Mr O’Leary has forgotten is that the fare you see is never the amount you end up paying! – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Your intrepid traveller Miriam Lord asks, What do you call a group of motoring journalists (Home News, April 21st)? What about “a clutch”? – Yours, etc,
A chara, – Perhaps Eyjafjallajökull is a dissatisfied, manipulative landlord-grunt from Gaia on planet cleaning duty? For all the talk of harmful ash stinking the place up, at least the whack of jet fuel was temporarily scrubbed. It might keep the planet off our backs for a while! – Is mise,
