Sir, - I am quite frankly appalled at the front-page colour photograph (July 20th), showing the clothes of Niall Murphy who drowned in Mayo yesterday.
I read your paper daily and before today considered it to be the only high quality Irish newspaper left, one can not criticise the quality of the reporting and feature writing, the former which is noted for its impartiality. But has The Irish Times, that great bastion of Irish journalism, stooped to the lows of the tabloids. Your photograph puts you into a league way below the premier division. - Yours, etc.,
Clare Sharkey, Beech Grove, Lucan, Co Dublin.
