Madam, - I support Rev Vincent Twomey's stance on conscientious objection. It is important that a person's freedom is respected in matters of conscience.
When a doctor has a moral objection to abortion for example, he or she should not have to refer a patient onward to someone of a different view. This is tacit doublethink and an abuse of the very meaning of conscientious objection.
- Yours, etc,
Dr EUGENE G. BREEN, Eccles Street, Dublin 7.
