Madam, - In your report on the Mass to open the Michaelmass law term (The Irish Times,October 5th), the RC Archbishop of Dublin, Dr Diarmuid Martin, is quoted as saying that every effort should be made to ensure the "new Irish" feel just as protected by Irish law as do those who have been born here.
He then goes on to describe these people as "non-nationals".
Surely Dr Martin should avoid adding to his fence-sitting before the recent referendum by further disparaging overseas citizens who come to our shores for political asylum or otherwise. - Yours, etc.,
KEN McCUE, Bow Street, Dublin 7.
