Madam, – In your Editorial on drink driving (January 28th) you referred to the incidence of boy racers zooming down roads at dangerous speeds.
For every boy racer that passes me as I trundle along at 100km per hour on national roads (admittedly more for reasons of economic fuel consumption in my outrageously inefficient car than a moral conviction to stay within the limit), there is at least twice the number of BMWs, Mercedes, Audis or Range Rovers whizzing by me at speeds in excess of the speed limit. I would hazard a guess that the drivers of these vehicles are more likely to fit the profile of Irish Timesreaders than boy racers. – Yours, etc,
