Madam, - The Camino de Santiago stretches over 750 km from the Pyrenees to Santiago in Galacia. The route goes through remote - often inhospitable - areas of predominantly rural northern Spain. In almost every hamlet, village, town or city through which it passes, there are water fountains or standpipes supplying clean, free drinking water for all who need it.
I have no doubt that if a water crisis similar to that in Galway arose in this region of Spain, the Minister responsible would feel obliged to resign. - Yours, etc,
ANNE MARSHALL, Ballyconneely, Co Galway.
