Madam, - I haven't been done yet, so I'm still in favour of the penalty points for speeding. However, you can now end up stuck behind a long line of cars all doing 55 mph. If I speed up to pass them I am in trouble.
Is there any chance that Mr Brennan would bring in a change of law, as a quid pro quo for us obeying the speed limits? I sugest that people driving below the speed limit, when a number of cars build up behind them, would be obliged to pull over to the shoulder to allow the others to pass. The idea is used to great effect in the US. Otherwise, we are creating a major problem of lines of increasingly furious drivers crawling along our roads, leading to people taking chances and causing even more problems.- Yours, etc.,
