Madam, - Taxi drivers bang on endlessly these days about their lack of business. Yet when I rang around various companies seeking vouchers to give to elderly relatives for Christmas, the responses were negative in the extreme.
Many old people will not spend scarce cash on taxis and for many of them I can think of no better gift, especially in winter. I hope that if you publish this it will stir whatever authority looks after the trade to wake operators to missed business opportunities. - Yours, etc,
