HANA BRAUN,
Sir, - On my recent visit to Ireland, having passed through customs at Dublin Airport, I sought a baggage cart. Imagine my frustration after a 10-hour flight to discover that the carts accepted only €1 coins for them to work. Only euro notes are available overseas from banks and foreign exchange bureaux. How could visitors be expected to have euro coins on their person?
This attitude to customers is unacceptable for a semi-state body such as Aer Rianta. What a narrow-minded way to greet visitors from the US, especially as I have read that Ireland is closer to Boston than Berlin. Is this yet another example of the failing Irish welcome of old? - Yours, etc.,
