SUSAN CONNOLLY,
Sir, - Our flight from Portugal to Dublin touched down on time at 9.30 on a Saturday night. We got into our car in Zone X of Aer Rianta's long-term car park at 12.15 a.m. The intervening 2¾ hours were spent waiting for luggage and trying to get on a courtesy bus.
At one point I gave up waiting for a bus because of the 400-500 people ahead of me in the queue and tried to get a taxi to the car park instead - only to be refused by the taxi driver because of some "arrangement with the union" that does not allow a taxi to carry passengers to any Aer Rianta car park. I then had no choice but to rejoin the bus queue - all this with a four-year-old child 14-week-old baby!
Thanks, Aer Rianta, for making the end of my holiday such a memorable one. - Yours, etc.,
