Sir, - What Government Department or agency has allowed Aer Rianta to put up its daily car park rates by a massive 23.45 per cent? I travel once a week to the UK and know exactly the cost of a day's parking in the short term car park at Dublin Airport. Up to February 28th this cost was €16.20. Last evening I was charged €20, a 23.45 per cent increase! I was told that the rate went up on March 1st. Did I miss the notice of this increase in the newspapers?
This is yet another imposition on the regular traveller who, in the absence of a direct rail service, is more or less obliged to use the car parks.
By the way, I wonder if the CSO will include the cost of the Dublin Airport car parks in its next inflation survey. - Yours, etc.,
