Madam, - I applaud Dublin City Council's commitment to clean up the city environment.
However, I feel the council's new policy forbidding relatives of missing people from erecting posters or notices seeking help in finding missing persons (The Irish Times, January 31st), seems illogical and insensitive.
There is considerable difference between such posters or notices and the plethora of political posters permitted on lamps, poles or other street furniture before, during and after local, national and European elections.
To my mind the relatives of missing persons merit at least the same consideration and courtesy as those who are apparently allowed to go to any length and height throughout Dublin city and county when they need our support! - Yours, etc.,
PETER GAUGHAN, Monkstown, Co Dublin.
