Sir, - There is a wide variety of pre-paid tickets available from Dublin Bus. These can be purchased from over 300 shops throughout the city. How strange, then, that they are nowhere to be found at Heuston Station, one of the busiest venues in the city for public transport users! Given that most rail passengers, on arrival at Heuston, need a bus bound for the city centre and beyond, a kiosk selling a comprehensive range of bus tickets would make obvious sense. Sadly, none exists. When the ticket dispenser is working, though this is infrequent, you can buy single tickets to the city centre at the station bus-stop, but not the excellent value Rambler or season tickets.
What prospect is there for an efficient, customer-friendly, integrated transport system when the State-owned bus and railway companies are unable or unwilling to co-operate on something as straightforward as the sale of tickets? - Yours, etc.,
