DUBLIN PORT TUNNEL

Sir, I refer to Mr Frank McDonald's report on the Earthwatch/Dublin Port Tunnel meeting in The Irish Times on November 7th

Sir, I refer to Mr Frank McDonald's report on the Earthwatch/Dublin Port Tunnel meeting in The Irish Times on November 7th. I wish to make the following points.

First, Dr Philips contacted this office on November 6th. He sought information in relation to a three year geological study with which he was involved.

Dr Philips was informed by an engineer in this office that the consultant's geological report had just been received by Dublin Corporation, but had not yet been reviewed or assessed. He was told that, after review, the report would be released to him for hiss project.

Dr Philips stated that he was satisfied with this arrangement, as the information would be equally useful at a later stage in his long term study. He undertook to contact Dublin Corporation again in a number of months.

Regarding the general matter of making information available, to the public, Dublin Corporation has already provided a large amount of interim geological information both to the Marino Development Action Group and Ms Patricia McKenna MEP, at their request. Please be assured that there has been no lack of transparency or commitment to the public consultation, in either the Environmental Impact Assessment Procedure or, as currently, in the Draft Development Plan variation Process. - Yours, etc.,
