Sir, - The recent remarks by Dr Adrian Phillips, Professor of Geology, that the Dublin Port Tunnel project was running through a major fault should be taken seriously. This fault zone runs across the Fairview end of the chosen route. Professor Simon Perry, of TCD's School of Engineering, is also correct in stating that there was not sufficient information available to judge whether or not the scheme now proposed was the right solution.
Once again, the people from the Marino Development action group have been proved right in the campaign against the tunnel. If this voluntary community group had not been formed, the general public would have been prevented from hearing the truth. They have done a great service to the whole area of public safety and genuine accountability. - Yours, etc.,
Griffith Avenue,
Dublin 9.
