Sir, The proposed route of the Dublin Port Tunnel runs beneath my home. Like many residents, I am concerned by the prospect of potentially damaging vibrations caused by heavy goods traffic using the tunnel. I wrote to Dublin Corporation expressing my concern.
In a reply dated March 25th Mr. Eamon Brady, the tunnel project's information officer stated that "there will be no perceptible noise levels generated . . after construction", and added: "The direction of the sound waves that are, produced will travel downwards".
One wonders what scientific evidence Mr Brady cancite, for his assertion that acoustic vibrations are unidirectional in this case, conveniently, downwards?
