Sir, - I have been following the correspondence relating to the suggestion that Dublin might twin with Halle, the birthplace of George Frederick Handel. A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of accompanying some American visitors to Fishamble Street, where Our Lady's Choral Society were performing choruses from Handel on April 13th, the anniversary of the first performance of this great oratorio. It was a memorable occasion and the large crowd who attended were enthralled by the music.
I would heartily support the proposition to twin Dublin with Halle. I feel it would be a very appropriate and lasting expression of musical solidarity with the great composer. - Yours, etc.,
