Madam, - Your report (June 23rd) on the launch of the book Gridlock; Dublin's Transportation Crisis and the Future of the City made for interesting reading. While the book itself and the route it mapped out for Dublin are absolutely spot on, the choice of guest speaker was intriguing.
During her speech launching the book, Dr Margaret O'Mahony, interim chairperson of the proposed Dublin Transportation Authority, indicated her wish to have an "open door" policy in relation to developing the strategy. In that context perhaps Dr O'Mahony could tell why she, not once, but twice refused to meet with the elected members of Dublin City Council to discuss how we could collectively tackle the crisis. Or perhaps the Minister for Transport, under whose authority she is operating, could answer the question directly. - Yours, etc,
Cllr DERMOT LACEY, Beech Hill Drive, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
