Madam, - I wish to dispute statements in a report headed "Half of baths proposals unviable" (Property, November).
1. There were 27 valid submissions of interest received in relation to the redevelopment of Dun Laoghaire baths, not 28.
2. No decision by the council has been taken on these submissions. It is therefore not correct to state that half have already been dismissed as unviable.
3. It is also incorrect to state:"Even those proposals which 'stack up' commercially have one major defect", since no official evaluation has yet been made.
4. In light of the above the penultimate paragraph is also incorrect in stating that certain submissions have been ruled out.
The Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown county councillors recognise the sensitivity of this site and I for one will be recommending that we consider all of these submissions and that eventually all submissions be put on public display in the County Hall for the purpose of inviting public comment and input. As a result of this process we can arrive at a consensus view of what is appropriate at this uniquely sensitive coastal site in Dun Laoghaire.
One final point. The official advertisement of the county council published in the national press invited "expressions of interest" in relation to this site and it is important to understand that any responses received to this invitation are in no way regarded as planning applications. - Yours, etc.,
Cllr VICTOR BOYHAN,
(Progressive Democrats),
Stradbrook Hill,
Blackrock,
Co Dublin.
