Madam, - I congratulate our county manager in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown, Owen Keegan, on his letter (August 25th) rebutting Peter Molloy's statement that "councillors and the county council will be unlikely to propose any new initiatives because of fear of a backlash from protesters".
Obviously Mr Molloy was not aware that at a council meeting earlier this year, plans put forward by our six local ward councillors were favourably received by a majority of councillors.
If these plans do go ahead and the county manager is indicating his support, I feel the vast majority of those who protested will be in favour.
Let us not forget that the massive protests by many thousands of our citizens were against the handing over of what is a public amenity site to private developers for an eight-storey luxury apartment complex. - Yours, etc,
