Madam, - Further to the "Thinking Anew" column (Nov 11th), your readers may be interested to know that Ronald Mallett and many other boy sopranos are remembered in The Better Land, by Stephen R Beet, published by Rectory Press ISBN 1-903698-14-6.
Ronald Mallett may be heard singing together with Ernest Lough on The Glory of the Temple Church Choir (Amphion recording PHI CD 172).
Finally at this time with the retirement of Archbishop Eames drawing close it is interesting to note that at Archbishop Gregg's final Matins in Armagh Cathedral on February 15th, 1959, the Cathedral Choir, directed by Frederick Carter, sang I waited for the Lord, Mendelssohn being a favourite of the archbishop. - Yours, etc,
WILLIAM LAUDER, Tirnascobe Road, Richhill, Belfast.
