Sir, – It is interesting to hear Northern Ireland emerging as a political issue once again.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s intervention is facing us down a road that may become a real scenario one day. This intervention will no doubt vex the DUP people who are happy enough to bat off reality with put down effrontery.
However, on this occasion I think it would be a good idea to bring some sense of economic reality to this new phase of our relations with Northern Ireland.
This, I think should come in the form of a balance of trade statement between North and South only, providing us with a base camp of economic knowledge and understanding between the two parts of this island.
There is nothing like money to concentrate the mind.
