Madam, - The majority of 16-year-olds are in no position to vote rationally. At that age, teenagers haven't worked out their own opinions but are simply parroting the beliefs of their parents.

Even at 20 I am poorly equipped to vote in the local elections. I sent Fianna Fáil canvassers running last week - not because I had a single clue what Eoin Ryan's policies are, but because his campaign poster slogan offended me. "Let's get goin' with Eoin". Dreadful! - Yours, etc.,
