Sir, - I support Rev Bryan Shortall's proposal (March 13th) for a campaign against electoral apathy.
As a first step, those who want to see higher turnouts at electionsand referendums could contact their county council requesting copies ofthe forms required for entry to the supplement to the register ofelectors, and for transferral of an existing entry from one area toanother, then hand these copies out - to friends, family members,colleagues, and anyone who'll take one. Photocopies are acceptable.
Many people fail to vote because they are unregistered, orregistered far from where they live, and are either too lazy or notwell enough informed to right the matter. Presenting such people withthe simple form they require might encourage at least some to do so. -Yours, etc.,
