Madam, - David Norris (November 16th) accuses John Waters of employing "highly emotional language" in a recent column.
Seven sentences later the good senator complains that "everyone else must stand aside in order to give Mr Waters the Lebensraum to pursue his single-issue agenda".
Given that the term Lebensraum is almost singularly associated in the public consciousness with Nazi Germany's policy of expansion to the east, providing "living space" for the German populace while enslaving and/or terminating the native peoples, this must rank as "emotional language" of the very highest order.
Thank you, Senator, for this very entertaining dose of hypocrisy, though I doubt Mr Waters finds it similarly amusing. - Yours, etc.,
GARETH MURPHY, Sussex Road, Dublin 4.
