Sir, I read with interest the excellent article by Alva MacSherry in the Well & Good pages of The Irish Times on June 23rd which referred to the congress in the RDS this weekend.

As one who has lived with epilepsy all my life, I am interested in learning more on the up to date research and findings about it. I contacted the Irish Epilepsy Association regarding fees for the conference, and wanted to know if there was any concession fee for people with epilepsy. I was informed there isn't. It is not the fault of the Irish Epilepsy Association, as the fee has been set by the International Bureau of Epilepsy and the International League against Epilepsy. While I am delighted that Ireland has the privilege of hosting the Congress, I feel angry that people like myself feel excluded because of the prohibitive fee. I have no objection to paying a nominal fee.

It is unfortunate that such a worthwhile congress does not appear to want to reach those who benefit most - the people who live with epilepsy and are trying to dispel any prejudice surrounding it. Yours, etc.
