Sir, - I was most interested in Frank McDonald's article on the ESB's destruction of Fitzwilliam Street (The Irish Times, February 15th).
He recalls the public meeeting in the Mansion House, the only protest meeting I can remember attending.
My lasting memory is of being greatly surprised by the attitude of the majority of students there that evening. They warmly welcomed the proposed development as the old houses represented to them the sweat and blood of their forefathers, while the new building symbolised the vision of their Ireland of the future. - Yours, etc.,
