Madam, - The horrors of ethnic cleansing are recurring in Darfur. Over the past few months, Janjaweed militias backed by the Khartoum government have continued to kill, rape and plunder ethnically African villages.
The dead include many children bludgeoned with rifle-butts.More people have died, been internally displaced or become refugees in Darfur in the past two years than the entire South East Asian tsunami catastrophe.
The crisis warrants an urgent response from states and international institutions. When will the words "never again" become words of substance rather than empty rhetoric? - Yours, etc,
KEVIN COFFEY, Greystones, Co Wicklow.
