Sir, – If Declan Kelly's requirement regarding adapting to the host culture (Letters, March 14th) had been applied to all those Irish refugees fleeing the famine in the 1840s who sought refuge in America they, and all other refugees to the New World, would have had to adopt the customs of the native American Indians.
