Sir, – I was delighted to read of Gerard O'Herlihy's experience with the super-speedy processing of his European Passport Card (February 5th). It prompted me to apply for my passport card before noon that same day, as I thought it would solve a problem of having to submit my passport as part of a visa application for India while holidaying in Spain.
Although the charge for the passport card appeared in my credit card account almost immediately upon submission of the application, I see from the online tracking system that my application was not “received” until February 10th. Now a full two weeks later, it is still firmly stuck in stage two of a six-stage process. Mr O’Herlihy’s experience seemed too good to be true.
My many congratulations are extended to the government of India, as my tourist e-visa popped into my inbox less than 24 hours after submitting the application. – Yours, etc,
ANNE NOLAN,
Stillorgan, Co Dublin.
