Sir, – It is wonderful to see Synge Street students Mark Kelly and Eric Doyle continue Ireland’s winning record at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (Home News, September 26th), especially as their project relates to space science.
As your correspondent Genevieve Carbery notes, their work on improving the accuracy of satellite positioning will no doubt be of interest to Nasa. It would be even better for Ireland if their obvious talents were cultivated by the European Space Agency (ESA), of which Ireland is a long-standing member state.
