Madam, - In light of Minister for Arts John ODonoghue's gaffe regarding the Eurovision Song Contest (The Irish Times, May 23rd), it really is hard to believe that people accuse this Government of being out of touch with reality. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - I am 11 years old, and was deeply disappointed with the way the voting in the Eurovision Song Contest went. Everyone says there is no way to stop the eastern European countries voting for each other, but what if the countries outside Europe were to be the judges? It would give everyone in the contest a fair chance. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - Having just seen a reprise of Finland's winning Eurovision entry, I believe we have only one chance of winning next year. Send Podge and Rodge. - Yours, etc,

Clarinbridge,
Co Galway.
