Madam, - "Senior Government figures believe the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the PPARS project fully justify the decision to abolish the former health board structure and replace it with a centralised Health Service Executive" (Martin Wall, Dec 14th).

While not a fan of overblown IT projects or of the former health boards, I feel it is worth pointing out that PPARS was largely on target and largely on budget at the end of 2004. It was in 2005 that the major slippage seems to have begun, along with the unauthorised expenditure of almost €40 million. Now, there's a triumph for the new centralised administration. - Yours, etc,
