Madam, – I concur with Marita Conlon McKenna (May 19th) that it is indeed a great relief the Famine letters will remain in Ireland. The State might consider utilising escheated property and/or Lottery funding to commence setting up an Irish Famine commemorative centre. It would be wonderful if these particular Famine letters could be given in the interim to the National Library of Ireland or similar for an exhibition and so be available to both the public and academic research. – Yours, etc,
