TIM JEANS,
Sir, - Alan Browne (April 1st) complains about the fare he paid recently on Ryanair.
While he paid one of our higher fares, this was not because he was booking at short notice, but because both of the flights on which he was travelling were already heavily pre-sold, and as a result only the last few seats at higher fares remained when he booked them.
He was returning on the Friday of the St Patrick's holiday weekend. While he paid a higher fare than he would have if he had booked well in advance, he still saved more than €200 over the comparable fare charged by Ryanair's competitors.
Not only are Ryanair's fares consistently lower than any of our competitors, but they continue to fall by some 5 per cent each year. Ryanair continues to drive down the cost of air travel to and from Ireland, even for those passengers like Mr Browne who are booking at very short notice to travel on a bank holiday weekend. - Yours, etc.,
TIM JEANS,
Head of Sales and Marketing,
Ryanair,
Dublin Airport.
