Farmers, taxpayers and the EU

Sir, – I note that the IFA is not happy that the Government is publishing details of EU payments to farmers ("CAP figures show huge disparity in what farmers received", May 30th). I suspect its main concern is that citizens will become aware of how well farmers are living off the taxpayer. The EU ruling is that this is taxpayers' money and citizens are entitled to know where it is going. – Yours, etc,
