Sir, – How dispiriting it is to see the alacrity with which the leading women in the Dáil have adopted the political nuances favoured by the traditional male members with the Tánaiste, Joan Burton, brooking no dissent and whipping Labour into line to vote against Clare Daly’s Bill – and casting Anne Ferris into the political wilderness. Then we had Sin Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald absenting herself from the debate and vote. It rather neuters the argument for gender quotas. – Yours, etc,
TOM FINN,
Ballinasloe, Co Galway.
