Madam, - I was shocked to learn from a report by John Downes in your edition of August 19th that successful non-national Leaving Certificate students who wish to further their education, "do not qualify for fees under the current system".
It is a fact that we are wooing an ever increasing number of non-national graduates to work in our essential services.
Surely, therefore, it makes sense, and is only just, that those already resident in this country, who have acquired the necessary language and other skills, be given the opportunity to achieve their full potential by receiving the same financial support as is available to our own nationals. - Yours, etc.,
PATRICIA D. HORNE, MB, St Joseph's, Cowper Drive, Dublin 6.
