Madam, - There is no question that the last 10 plane trees on O'Connell Street, which are 100 years old, will be felled just to make a uniform pattern, unless we all protest against such a plan.

These old trees are living witnesses of our Irish history in O'Connell Street. They are monuments! How can one possibly compare living trees to "rolling out a carpet"? They must of course be incorporated into the regeneration plan, which otherwise seems excellent.

I believe that we, the undersigned, speak for many who will not seize the opportunity to make their views known, but also feel just as strongly as we do. - Yours, etc.,
