Sir – I read that Fianna Fáil, yes those of the Galway tent fame, are claiming the benefits of charities gambling legislation – to hold a fundraiser raffle – and thought that surely my eyes had deceived me.
That couldn’t possibly extend to the favourable tax treatment of monies paid to the national movement by wealthy benefactors – or could it?
I will, in the spirit of fairness, wait until I hear from the real leader of the country, Dr Tony Holohan, on this matter before passing judgment on this apparent sleight of hand from the Soldiers of Destiny.
