Madam, - Vincent Browne's column of January 7th, "Fine Gael's bogus excuse on presidency", was harsh and uncalled for. Enda Kenny's comments that his party would not contest the presidential election if the current President decided to seek a second term as a non-party candidate show a leader who is quite willing to express his true belief.
His remarks are those of a leader comfortable in his position and we should be pleased to see a politician giving an honest, truthful and open opinion - a breath of fresh air in Irish politics. - Yours, etc.,
