Madam, - I am a floating voter, but I must applaud Fine Gael's decision to take a firm and clearly defined stance on Irish neutrality.
Creating policy based on principle rather than pursuit of short-term populist support is a quality sorely lacking in Ireland's political establishment, and one that will do much to reverse Fine Gael's current identity crisis.
I hope this is the first step towards a realisation that the electorate is crying out for a party that has the courage of conviction, and that the endless cycle of point-scoring that characterises Irish politics today is of limited interest to anyone outside the gates of Leinster House. - Yours, etc.,
