Madam, – Yesterday on RTÉ Radio's Morning Ireland, Fine Gael's transport spokesman Fergus O'Dowd told us his party would build another motorway around Dublin. I don't doubt that some commuters might like to have another motorway, but that doesn't mean one should be built.
At a time when policy-makers are trying to find ways of reversing the blight of urban sprawl, here is a policy that would encourage it. We’re in the current mess due to a lack of foresight in the past. Let’s learn from our mistakes.
